Design-Build: Cleaning Implementation

• Installation of protection

• Implementation of marble cleaning

ICR was contracted by The Morgan Library & Museum to develop conservation options for the main entry of the Charles Follen McKim building. ICR conducted site testing on the multi-colored marble, which culminated in the design of a conservation treatment program. ICC was selected by the Museum to implement the design work by ICR.

On site, ICR tested modifying the concentration of cleaning agents in a liquid latex rubber base. Once the most compatible material and method were determined, ICC spray-applied the latex to the walls and allowed it to dry.  The dry latex was then peeled off the walls and the surface was wiped down.
