May 29, 2012

ICR is preparing for its fourth annual training session at the Preservation Institute: Nantucket (PI:N) field school which is the signature field school of the University of Florida’s Center for World Heritage & Stewardship. The field school is geared primarily towards graduate level students with an interest in historic preservation. The field school covers many topics of preservation over a six-week period. ICR developed and taught the curriculum for the materials conservation portion of the program covering conditions surveying, material identification and characterization, and mortar and paint analyses. The students conclude the session with a presentation of their findings and interpretation of the physical evidence.
