ICR has established a Materials Analysis Resource Center (MARC) based on the specific requirements of conservation and restoration projects, as well as our own and predefined testing standards (i.e. ASTM, DIN, RILEM). Equipment, testing parameters, and procedures are designed to yield concise, usable data. MARC is comprised of two distinct resource sectors: 1. the conservation data archive and (2) the conservation laboratory.

Our conservation data archive includes our conservation library and its associated historic materials collections. The archive houses articles and books on architectural conservation and related topics; our photo collection (digital and film) of materials, conditions and building systems; and a computerized database management system that enables us to cross-tabulate related data based on a vast array of specific criteria. ICR relies on these and other resources to evaluate conditions and materials and to develop fully informed recommendations.

Ultimately, our conservation recommendations are assessed in the field to gauge their effectiveness and to define parameters for large-scale implementation.
